POTENZA ORTHOBLUE

Blue lightcuring resin. Indicated for:

  • Temporary occusal buildups;
  • Orthodontic band cementation.
Features
& Benefits
  • Blue color: helps on application and removal of the product;
  • Lightcuring: allows to control the working time;
  • Self adhesive formula: does not require adhesive application;

P.S. in areas of greater mechanical effort, the application of the adhesive is indicated since it maximizes adhesive strenght of the material to the tooth. The adhesive is also indicated for application in teeth with complex occlusal anatomy, since it enhances sealing and prevents marginal leakage.

  • Highly smooth surface: spheroidal filler particles inside the product decrease fricction and favor sliding movements to antagonists.
  • Self leveling capability: facilitates creating build ups more accurately;
  • Contains fluoride.

HOW TO USE

Orthodontic band cementation:

01

1st Step

Clean the tooth with Robinson brush and pumice with water. Etch free surfaces (buccal and palatal) with acid etchant at 35% (i.e. POTENZA ATTACCO 35, PHS) during 30 seconds, then wash it off and dry. Maintain the area isolated and dry.
02

2st Step

Roughen the internal perimeter of the band with abrasive tips or sandblast it with aluminum oxide.
03

3st Step

Apply a fine layer of Orthoblue on the internal perimeter of the band, covering the area that matches the free surfaces of the tooth. Avoid application of the product on proximal faces since it can lead to misfiting.
04

4st Step

Fit the band to the tooth until its perfectly adapted and remove the excess of the resin that overflows from the margins. Make sure not to leave any gaps between the tooth and the band.
05

5st Step

Lightcure the cement directing the lightcuring unit´s light beam to the occlusal surface in a screening movement, covering all of the tooth/band interface, for 30 seconds. Make sure there are no excess of resin on the proximal margins to allow posterior application of tooth floss.

Bands removal:

Despite the higher bond strenght provided by the resin cement (if compared to the GIC), the band removal process is still relatively easy. It is recommended to use the orthodontic plier #347 to remove the band. Resin residue adhered to enamel can be removed with dentin curetts and multifluted burrs.

Occlusal buildups:

01

1st Step

Clean the tooth with Robinson brush and pumice with water. Etch occlusal surface with acid etchant at 35% (i.e. POTENZA ATTACCO 35, PHS) during 30 seconds, then wash it off and dry. Maintain the area isolated and dry.
P.S. for cases of complex occlusal anatomy and areas of higher mechanical strenght, apply adhesive on the occlusal surface. This will increase sealing capability and improve adhesive strenght to tooth.
02

2st Step

Apply small amount of Orthoblue on the occlusal surface and shape it as needed. When reaching the proper shape, lightcure it for 30 seconds. If needed, more increments can be placed.

Removal of occlusal buildups:

The evident blue color of Orthoblue favors the identification of its residue on enamel. Use diamond burrs for initial removal of the biggest excess and then multifluted burrs to remove the smalest residues safely.
